2021.09.27 17:20 DJ_Slippery Destination Weddings are Pointless

Destination weddings where you invite your family to watch you wed halfway across the world are ridiculous UNLESS, here's the disclaimer: it's a country where the bride or groom are from, or they are extremely familiar with, or it's an all inclusive resort where they do everything & the bride and groom just show up. Honestly, regular people who expect their family to travel like this is insanity! If you're a regular Joe and don't have a private jet or the resources to make this happen, then why on earth would you do this? Some brides and grooms haven't even been to these destinations. How do they even know they would like it in the first place? Planning a wedding is hard enough, why make your life more difficult on yourself?

she was emotionally dead but i don't believe she had schizophrenia. if you think she did please tell me what made you think so. i believe she was pretty smart for a twelve year old and never believed in fucking slenderman. she said that alissa actually believed it. if that poor kid hadn't survived they would be murderers. i have not sympathy for them.

2021.09.27 17:20 Infamous_Suspect_44 Permanently OAD! Bilateral salpingectomy done!

Four days ago I had my tubes removed and I'm so relieved and thankful that I was able to get this operation that many women are denied for sexist reasons. I'm going to share my experience below but feel free to comment with more questions if you want to know more.
For context, I'm 29, married with one son who is 13 months. I live in Connecticut. I had hypermesis and preeclampsia during pregnancy and bad PPA once he was born. My new OB believed I also had undiagnosed gestational diabetes while pregnant that led me to develop PCOS after giving birth. All of this would mean that my next pregnancy would be high risk. Couple that with my intense anxiety and my husband and I made the decision to not have any more children.
The reason I got my tubes removed and he didn't get a vasectomy is because my provider asked the question that if you were to divorce or have your partner pass away would you want more children. My answer was no, no matter what happens to my relationship I know I don't want to be pregnant again. My husband didn't want to have that option completely closed for him in the event of our marriage ending for one reason or another.
Getting a doctor to agree: The first OB I saw after having my son (I had midwives for my pregnancy and they can't perform surgeries) was really rude and against me having my tubes removed for at least 3 years, she also dismissed my symptoms of what later turned out to be PCOS. A few months later, my PCOS symptoms were getting worse so I called and asked to see a new doctor. The one I got was way more sweet and understanding. She was able to figure out what was going on and was open to me having permanent birth control. She asked me to try the pill one more time as I've had depression with it in the past and if it came back then she would do a tubal. The depression did come back so we went forward and scheduled it.
I would say for anyone else interested in this procedure, don't be afraid to ask multiple times for this procedure and to bring up the problems you're having with other birth control. If you have tons of cramping from your IUD or your pill is giving you tons of mood swings, don't brush it under the rug and act like you can live with it if it's making your life miserable. Tell them that you are certain you're one and done and after a few visits if they still are not receptive don't be afraid to go find another doctor even if it is a pain in the ass. It's worth it to be taken seriously.
The operation and recovery: The operation was super easy as far as surgery goes. I had a C-section to deliver my son due to preeclampsia and the tube removal is a million times easier. I was in and out of the hospital within 4 hours and only needed to take one prescription pain pill. The next day I took Advil and Tylenol to manage the pain but by the second day of recovery I didn't need any pain medication at all. I was able to shower after 24 hours.
The next two days I felt really sleepy and out of it from the anesthetic and healing but now on day 4, I'm starting to feel like myself again. I still get tired easily than normal and can only do a short walk around my street but my overall energy level is improving.
The worst part is that I can't lift my son until at least a week post op and I can't push a stroller until two weeks post op. It's hard having to rely on my mom and husband to take care of my son. The first two days it was kind of a nice break especially as I was still out of it from surgery. But now I wish I could pick him up and cuddle him. I wish I had this done with my c section so the recovery was over already but oh well.
Since my provider was willing to do it, I didn't want to miss my opportunity to have the operation done before the winter but I'd recommend waiting until your kid can walk by themselves and get in and out of bed or their chair on their own because you won't have to reply on someone else to care for them. But if you're like me and mentally can't wait for the peace of mind, then you'll just need to make sure you have childcare lined up and if you work, take at least a week off.
Super glad I had it done and I don't think I'll ever regret having it done as pregnant and the postpartum stage was really hard on me.
